My dear and ever so patient husband made my manic pixie girl dreams of cuddling a micro Highland cow calf come true last week when we took a seven hour round trip to Sapulpa, Oklahoma to visit the High on the Hill Dairy Goat Farm, a sweet little establishment which for the low fee of only $50 will allow your family a private cow and goat cuddle session. In addition to cuddling the furriest, moo-iest calves your eyes have ever beheld, you have the opportunity to pick up and cuddle the Dwarf Nigerian baby goats which accompany them in the pen. The large barn stall was freshly cleaned, all the animals had ample space, and the views from barn atop the hill were lovely.

The baby and I thoroughly enjoyed visiting with the animals. My husband was a good sport about all of it and the goats seemed to adore him. I love visiting Eastern Oklahoma because unlike our corner of Southwestern Oklahoma, it is quite green. It almost reminds me of life East of the Mississippi except the trees are not nearly as tall.

After visiting the farm, we headed into town to find a treat. I had seen a shop called Little Taiyaki advertised on one of the Oklahoma travel Facebook groups I follow. They serve Taiyaki and soft serve. Taiyaki is a Japanese street food. Shaped like a fish, it is a dessert pastry typically filled with red bean paste. In Korea, a similar dish is called Bungeo-ppang. My husband and I had both not had this dish since we lived in Asia several years ago. We ordered a Taiyaki cone which was the pastry filled with soft serve and then a variety of Taiyaki filled with various fillings like mozzarella, custard, and Nutella. All of it was delicious, but the Nutella was hands down my favorite.
