About

Who am I

My name is Lauren. I am a wife, a mother, and a librarian seeking a more simple, meaningful existence. Part of my journey has meant giving up the city life and embarking on building a modest home in southern West Virginia.

“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.”

— Ralph Waldo Emerson

My approach

Though I have travelled extensively and lived several places in the United States including the island territory of Saipan, I have never lived a simple, minimalist life. I am working to reduce my and my family’s consumption of disposable goods and to invest our time in building relationships with one another and our community. This blog documents our simple life and adventures in our corner of the world.
